Air conditioners combine refrigerant under pressure with mains electricity and water, so the details matter. These are the practices any good installer or technician should follow, and they're worth knowing if you're comparing quotes.
- Refrigerant recovered, not vented, and never mixed with a different type. In South Africa, people who handle refrigerants should be registered with SAQCC Gas.
- Pressure test and vacuum on new or opened pipework before the system is charged.
- A dedicated circuit and isolator, installed by a registered electrician and covered by an electrical Certificate of Compliance.
