Aircon Installation in Centurion
Centurion's weather tends to follow slightly warmer Pretoria rather than Johannesburg, and that puts a real load on any cooling system. ARS handles aircon installation in Centurion, plus repairs, servicing and regassing for homes, estates, offices and industrial sites.
Centurion ran as its own municipality, under the names Lyttelton and later Verwoerdburg, before it became part of the City of Tshwane in 2000. It sits between Pretoria and Midrand, with the N1 and N14 meeting near its centre and the R21 cutting through the east. The result is a patchwork of established suburbs, newer estates, office nodes and industrial parks, often a few minutes apart.
Each of those property types calls for a different setup. These are the places we typically work in:
Family Homes
Estates and Complexes
Office Parks
Industrial Parks

Planning Aircon Installation in Centurion Properly
A good install starts with a site assessment, not a guess. We look at the room size, which way it faces, ceiling height, insulation and how the space is used, then size the unit in BTU/h. Because Centurion runs warmer than Johannesburg, an undersized split is a common mistake: it runs flat out all afternoon and still leaves the room warm.
Estates such as Midstream and Southdowns usually have architectural guidelines covering where outdoor units, pipes and trunking may go, so HOA approval comes before any drilling. The unit also needs its own dedicated circuit, wired by a registered electrician and covered on the electrical Certificate of Compliance under SANS 10142-1.
New units and replacements
Our installation service covers wall splits, cassettes and other systems, and replacing tired units. If you still run an old R22 unit, it's worth knowing that no new R22 systems are made, as the gas is being phased out under the Montreal Protocol.
Repairs, servicing and regassing
When a unit stops cooling, our technicians handle aircon repairs on site. Regular servicing keeps coils clean and catches small faults early, and regassing only makes sense once a leak has been found and fixed.
Business and industrial sites
The Highveld suburb is home to many tech companies, Hennopspark has a long stretch of industrial and commercial premises, and the Centurion Aerospace Village houses aerospace suppliers. Die Hoewes, near the Gautrain station, mixes offices and newer apartments. For these sites we offer commercial air conditioning and industrial cooling work. Planning a fit-out? Centurion Weather and What It Means for Your Unit
Hot afternoons, long run hours
Summers here run from warm to hot, roughly October to April, and a unit cooling a sunny room will often run for most of the afternoon. That's why sizing and a clean condenser coil matter so much: both decide how hard the compressor has to work.
Storms, lightning and hail
Late-afternoon thunderstorms are common, with occasional hail. Outdoor units mounted in the open can take a knock, and lightning-related power spikes can damage control boards. A surge protector on the aircon circuit is a sensible precaution.
Load shedding and power returning
The moment power comes back is the risky part. Switching the unit off at the isolator during an outage, then waiting a few minutes before restarting, reduces the chance of a damaged PCB.
Winter heating
Winters are dry and sunny with cold nights. Most modern splits are reverse-cycle, so they heat as well as cool, and they do it efficiently. If yours blows cold in heat mode, the reversing valve or its control may need attention.
